چکیده

Abstract Urea-based multi-coated slow release fertilizer was produced using water hyacinth, humic substances, and chitosan, with rich in natural organic matter as a solvent. Elemental analysis showed that the nitrogen content of (FERT) around 20%. Swelling tests demonstrated effectiveness hyacinth crosslinker, which reduced permeability material. Leaching FERT released very low concentration ammonium (0.82 mg L −1 ), compared to amount from urea (43.1 ). No nitrate leaching observed for FERT, while leached 13.1 nitrate. In soil, maximum releases after 30 40 days, respectively, reached maxima just 2 5 respectively. The results promising ability reduce losses, well minimize environmental impacts soil–plant-atmosphere system improve efficiency fertilization. Graphic abstract

Allelopathic Effects of Water Hyacinth [Eichhornia crassipes]

Eichhornia crassipes (Mart) Solms is an invasive weed known to out-compete native plants and negatively affect microbes including phytoplankton. The spread and population density of E. crassipes will be favored by global warming. The aim here was to identify compounds that underlie the effects on microbes. The entire plant of E. crassipes was collected from El Zomor canal, River Nile (Egypt), w...

The feeding activity of Colossoma macropomum larvae (tambaqui) in fishponds with water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) fertilizer.

Analysis of macrophyte water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) as an organic fertilizer of Colossoma macropomum (tambaqui) larvae in ponds is provided. Water hyacinth produce an organic fertilizer at the ratio of 100 g x m(-2) in tambaqui ponds. Two groups of 5,000 larvae were transferred to two fishponds with and without water hyacinth fertilizer and reared until day 43. The fertilized pond evid...

Conversion of Water Hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) into Nutrient-Rich Fertilizer by Pit Methods

Among the aquatic weeds, water hyacinth is considered to be the most obnoxious of all aquatic weeds and occupies eighth rank in the world. Water hyacinth caused lot of problems to human beings and animals in many ways. The present study is therefore aimed to develop an appropriate technology for recovery of resources from aquatic weeds by pit methods of composting. Compost was prepared from aqu...

Removal of Cadmium and Zinc by Water Hyacinth, Eichhornia crassipes

Toxic heavy metal pollution of water and soil is a major environmental problem, and most conventional remediation approaches do not provide acceptable solutions. Wetland plants are being used successfully for the phytoremediation of trace elements in natural and constructed wetlands. This study demonstrates the phytoremediation potential of water hyacinth Eichhornia crassipes, for the removal o...

Nitrogen Phytoremediation by Water Hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms)

The phytoremediation potential of water hyacinth, Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms, was examined in two independent studies under nitrogen (N) rates of 0, 40, 80, 100, 150, 200, and 300 ppm. A modified Hoagland solution was added to ponds containing water hyacinths which were rated and measured weekly for 4 weeks. The hyacinths accounted for 60–85% of the N removed from solution. Net producti...
